I went Camping!

Hi Everyone, It’s been a few days since I’ve been on here. It was Canada Day on July 1st so for most of us that meant long weekend. I love camping and I haven’t gone and enjoyed that beer under the blazing sun in a long time so when I was invited to go, I jumped at the chance. I live in the beautiful province of Alberta and if you ever get the chance to camp at Dinosaur Provincial Park, I would strongly recommend it. You drive down into a canyon and once in the park you are surrounded by mountains and surprisingly a lot of trees. It’s almost like being in your own little world. I also have to give a shout out to the Duchess Golf Course, for a small little town they have a great course. Now I love to spend some time outdoors and I love spending time with my friends, but I am not sold on the whole tenting thing. Almost all of my camping experiences from my teen years on have involved sleeping on the ground, waking up cold and wet and taking care of that hip injury suffered while tossing and turning over a rock. A month ago I found the coolest way to camp without paying an arm and a leg for a camper or a trailer but still utilizing my truck bed. A company called Napier manufactures and sells tents that fit in the bed of your truck. I was a bit skeptical at first but after using the tent this past weekend I will never go back to sleeping on the ground. For $200 it was the best camping investment I have ever made. Great Job Napier! Thank You for saving me from a week of back pain.

Hey, it sounds like you had a great weekend! I’ve been to Dinosaur Provincial Park before and I love the place. It makes you want to quit blogging and go dig for dinosaurs.

    HI,
I’m planning on going to Alberta from W.Va. in the USA next summer when I retire to spend the summer trout fishing. Are people allowed to camp in non-camping areas in your national forests and is there a cost for it? I used to sleep in the back of my truck, but the camper shell wasn’t very high and it wasn’t all that comfortable. I bet a tent with more height is a lot better. I’m planning on making myself a tent on wheels for the trip next year. It will be a tent that quickly erects on top of a 6 X 9 small utility trailer. I can’t wait to build and test it. I just have the idea in mind now. Let me know about the camping if you can.
