I was surfing through my local real estate online paper the Calgary Real Estate News (CREN) and found a really interesting article about repairing the cracks in your foundation and preventing water damage to your basement. Traditionally to repair and fill these cracks a sprayed layer of tar was used to seal up the cracks apparently making the concrete “Damp Proof” not “Water Proof”. Fear not homeowners there is a new technology called Delta MS and to quote George Dalgleish the author of this article it is “…a dimpled, high-density polyethylene. The dimples resemble rows of small, thimble-shaped dimples.” Essentially without going into too much detail the Delta MS system creates a 3/8th inch gap between the concrete wall and the ground that allows for water to drain rather than penetrate your concrete foundation. I’m no handyman or house building expert but I do know it is important to explore every option especially when it comes to repairing your home. Please read the rest of George’s article called System protects basement walls to get all the information about this product.
