I have recently been trying to run some youtube.com videos on my site. I found a really cool video related to Real Estate and wanted to share it with the world, well the people in my world anyways. With little success trying to embed the video into my posts I decided to turn to the Wordpress.org support forums to hopefully find my answer. As usual I was able to find a very good answer within minutes.

I was able to find in 1 post multiple answers to my question. I have noticed in the past when looking for anything on the Internet about Wordpress that literally there are hundreds of answers to my questions especially if you start off in the support forums of Wordpress. Here is the link to the post if anyone is interested. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/107101

Although there were many great answers I decided to download a plugin called Viper’s Video Quicktags. Which essentially allows you to click a button, put in a URL and boom you are done. So far I have had no problems with it, however that being said I have only used it to post 1 video. (Keep my fingers crossed)

Being a tech guy (Well sort of), I’ll pass on a bit of information about the install of this plugin. It was very simple to apply, but there is one piece I could see being a hair pulling experience for some users. So I will share my experience.

After installing the plugin by adding the folder to your wp-content/plugins directory, and activating the plugin, you must clear the cache from your browser for this to work.

If you don’t clear the cache from your browser the little youtube icon won’t appear in the menu section when you try to write your next post.

Hopefully somebody finds that useful.

It is useful. Thanks. I use wordpress and am planning on using the odd video to give a bit of “newness” to my blogging.

I’m planning on doing videos on my other site once I get it up and running, so these tips will come in handy!
