Gone are the days when you would call up your real estate agent, book an appointment, talk about your interests, and figure out what your future holds, while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Your real estate agent would then go back to their office and come up with a list of 10-20 houses that might interest you. You would trek around town for 2 days looking at houses you may or may not buy.

These days the Internet has changed all that! With everyone’s busy lives and people trying to juggle family life with work, trying to figure out when to take vacation or even in my case trying to find a new home, no one has time anymore to spend days and days looking at mystery houses.

Realistically when am I going to have time to look at 20 houses, well when does anyone have time to look at 20 houses?

With the evolution of email and Internet our lives have changed, and when it comes to buying a home for me anyways, it has really sped things up.

I can send an email to my real estate agent, my mortgage broker, and my lawyer at 3 a.m. if I want because it’s convenient for me and setup all my weekly appointments in a matter of minutes.

I get a response generally within a day at their convenience and wow everything is setup.

Here is the beauty of it. At 2 a.m. before I’ve sent my email, I have gone onto MLA.ca or MLS.com and have picked out the houses I already want to see. I’ve just saved myself a days worth of driving and better yet, I won’t get frustrated at my real estate agent for taking me out to some junky property I don’t want to see anyways.

I realize that technology has really changed our world, but anything that gives me time so I can focus on other aspects of my life is fine with me.

I actually wrote an article called Use The Internet To Your Advantage that explains some great reasons why you should the Internet when searching for that new home.

I’ve been looking into a lot of real estate investment properties lately and it sure helps to have a place online to look first. Knowing that I’ll probably look at 100 properties before buying 1, I’d like to filter out the first 60 or so online!
