Little Known Ways to Find That Perfect Home!
Sep 6th, 2007 by Dan Standeven
So are you trying to find that perfect house and you just can’t. Your real estate agent has shown you everything under the sun and nothing seems to fit. You have looked at everything that your agent has shown you and it’s just not happening. Well maybe that home isn’t out there or is it?
It is a great idea to work with a real estate agent when looking for that home, but sometimes agents will stay on course and present properties that are easy for them to find or are in the system as they say.
Your probably not doing this but don’t rely solely on your agent to find your home, check out some of these alternatives
1) Tell everyone your looking: It is very conceivable that someone you know knows someone who is selling or about to sell their house. It is sometimes these tidbits of information that lead you to a house you would have never found otherwise. Keep your eyes and ears open, you never know what you might find.
2) Magazines and Newspapers: There are tons of listings in newspapers, and real estate magazines, each paper has a section in their classified ads dedicated to real estate. Do you think that your real estate agent is flipping through the paper everyday to find you a home, probably not. So why not take a look, you might find a great house and probably a great house for a good deal.
3) The Internet: This is probably the most common way to find homes these days, it’s quick, it’s easy and you can check at your convenience. Your agent is looking for properties this way, you might as well too. The great thing about the Internet is you can narrow your search down instantly for those properties that fit your needs.
4) Take a Drive: From houses listed with brokerages to those that are being sold privately, there is going to be a for sale sign on the property. Driving the neighborhoods serves 2 purposes: 1. If you are looking for specific homes that you have found in the papers or online, you can compare them to what you see in person. 2. Sometimes driving the neighborhood will produce that hidden gem of a home that just takes your breath away.
5) New Development Areas: If you can’t find it, build it! The great thing about new home construction is you can build what you want. Most of the times these new home construction projects are based on certain home plans, but they can be altered to fit your needs.
If your still looking and haven’t found your dream home don’t give up it’s out there.
