How To Extend The Life Of Your Printer Ink Cartridge
Anyone who owns a printer knows that printer ink cartridges are not exactly cheap items to buy on a regular basis. In fact, there are some people out there who would rather buy a new printer rather than a set of new printer ink cartridges simply because they think it is cheaper to do so.
Of course, resorting to buying a new printer rather than replacing printer ink cartridges every time you run out is not only silly but can also be totally wasteful. Instead of doing so, it would be better for you to find ways to extend the life of your printer ink cartridge so you would be able to use it much longer. Here are a few tips that will help you save money on printer ink cartridges for your printer.
1. Print sparingly. Before you print a document, you should ask yourself if you really need to have it printed. If you are going to print a document just for the sake of seeing how it looks like on paper but without really using it, you are better off not doing it at all. Also, check if you really need all those elements in the document – the colored images, the wide spaces, et cetera. You can set your printer up so it would only print the text, without including the images.
2. Print regularly. If you think that leaving your printer unused is going to help you save on the cost of printer ink cartridges, think again. Your ink is going to dry up in the cartridge, and dried up printer ink can clog your printer head. If your printer head gets clogged, not only will the print quality of your printer suffer, but the printer head can also end up damaged. Just a test print once a week will do if you are not using your printer frequently.
3. Preview your documents. It goes without saying that it is a total waste of printer ink if you print out a document and then discover that there is something wrong with it, like a typographical error or an image that is not aligned or cropped properly. To avoid such wastage, use the print preview function in your printing software.
4. Make draft-quality prints. Do you really need that document to look all bright and glossy? If you are not making the printout so that you can give it to someone you need to impress visually, then you can tone down the quality of the printout and use draft quality instead. In this way, the amount of printer ink used in creating the batch print will be minimal.
5. Unplug your printer when you are not using it. When you are not using your printer, power it down properly and pull its power plug from the wall socket. The continuous heat from the electricity feeding the printer can cause the printer ink to clog up the printer head. A clogged up printer head is nobody’s friend, and it will also make your printer ink cartridge used up before its time.

Grand Vacations Points
Grand Vacations Points

Cruise Vacation is a 'sampler' of Several Exotic Locations
To cruise or not to cruise - that's a question many of our middle-age friends are asking. Most people think cruises are either a bunch of young people intent on 24/7 parties, or senior citizens enjoying their Golden years.
The truth is that most cruises fall somewhere in between, although there are cruise lines and destinations known to appeal to the very young or to the very old. We just came back from our second trip on Holland America Line - this time to the Western Caribbean - and we found both of those cruises to have a smattering of the young, a few more of the old, but a lot of people like us who were smack in the middle.
When friends ask us if they should try a cruise, we say by all means. We view cruising as a kind of sampler vacation - a week or 10 days in which you get to try several destinations and decide which ones you think you would enjoy visiting for an entire vacation period. The disadvantage for us is that we often feel like we would like to spend more time in a port when it's time to leave.
But consider the advantages. With cruising, you never have to unpack your bags more than once, while the destinations change before your eyes. With most cruise lines, the meals are no-muss, no-fuss, always cooked and ready for you to eat when you're hungry -- and also when you're not. Meals are usually covered in your fare, although alcoholic drinks are extra. Most onboard activities are covered and only shore excursions cost extra. Dining arrangements usually put you in situations where it's easy to meet new friends.
Our most recent cruise was on the Veendam out of Tampa, Florida, visiting Cozumel, Mexico, Montego Bay, Jamaica and Grand Cayman Island. This seven-day itinerary was about the right combination of shore time -- one day per destination - and cruising. The Veendam produces a program each day outlining the myriad of activities that are available for the passengers. The line-up is impressive - spa classes, yoga classes, culinary classes, shopping classes, art seminars, numerous games and recreational activities, live, high-quality entertainment in the theaters, pubs and restaurants -- and even Catholic Mass.
Of special note to parents bringing children, Holland America Line makes Club Hal available to passengers who want to drop off their grade school-to-pre-teen kids. This was a hit with our seven-year-old who enjoyed the games and crafts but especially liked the idea of meeting new friends on board that were her own age. There is a separate meeting and program area for the teens.
On the Veendam, our "triple" stateroom gave us a couple of twin beds and a couch for our daughter to sleep on. With lots of closet and drawer space, the couple of hundred square feet didn't seem particularly small. We didn't have a veranda - or private outside balcony - but going with just a window saved us about $500 a week.
While a veranda is great to kick back in privacy, read a book and watch the ocean go by, we found an excellent substitute on the Veendam: Deck 6. This is the outdoor promenade deck which is lined with a single row of deck chairs perfect for watching the scenery. It's also where we did our daily walking - four times around to walk a mile.
Days in port can be pre-planned by buying shore excursions such as boat trips, snorkeling trips and various sightseeing tours. We did do one snorkeling adventure - on the Nautilus "submarine" in Grand Cayman, which turned out to be an especially great way to see the abundant fish life in George Town Bay - but generally we preferred to not have any set schedule for our days in port. Our preference is to just walk the town on our own, taking taxis and local buses as necessary to see sights we has previously read about.
As you might expect, great beaches and warm-water swimming and snorkeling were plentiful in all three of these destinations. But each destination had its own flavor and attractions and we especially enjoyed such destinations as the Harbour Street Craft Market in Montego Bay - where we loved getting to know the local merchants and vendors - and Cozumel's Chankanaab National Park, where there are beaches galore, giant iguanas run wild and even a pool where visitors can swim with dolphins. On Grand Cayman Island, we found the perfect snorkeling beach at Seven Mile Beach - ideal because the water was clear, the fish plentiful and the people sparse.
Back on the Veendam, the food was generally prepared to a high standard and we usually ate breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria-style Lido restaurant, and dinner in the Rotterdam dining room. There were three formal evenings - meaning everybody gets to dress up for dinner -- with all other meals remaining casual. Interestingly, we overheard some older passengers complaining there was too much cafeteria dining, not enough formal - yet we probably would have preferred even fewer formal dinners. It's hard to please all the people all the time.
With Holland America Line, there is a $10 charge each day that goes toward tipping your cabin attendant, waiters and others who have helped you during your stay on the ship. Frankly we were glad to pay it - the service was as good as any umpteen-star hotel we've visited, always cheerful and responsive. For decades, Holland America Line has been recruiting most of the ship's workers from Indonesia and the Philippines - even to the point of establishing training facilities in those areas - and it seems to be a great marriage. Second and third generation workers are happy to follow in their parents' footsteps and Holland America Line continues to score high with passengers in the category of service.
One thing our friends sometimes ask about is this whole thing about people getting sick while cruising. Indeed, with news stories cropping up from time to time about illness aboard cruise ships - including one very recent episode on a San Diego-based ship - it's only natural that prospective passengers want to know if they'll be safe on the high seas. Television, newspapers and the internet jump on the story and you can almost feel the air being squeezed out of the industry as cruise companies try to unring the bell of negative publicity.
On this most recent cruise, we spent some time with the captain and his executive staff talking about the precautions that Holland America Line employees (and indeed most cruise lines) take to prevent an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness. The captain and his staff explained that, once a virus breaks out, it's quite difficult and time-consuming to purify an entire ship. And so Holland America Line for some time has been waging a pro-active battle - what they call a "Code Yellow" alert - that encourages passengers to wash their hands frequently and avoid physical contact with other passengers. The Veendam greeting, the captain said - only half joking - is to touch elbows, not shake hands.
Indeed, before we even stepped on board the Veendam, we had already been told to wash our hands using one of dozens of Purell dispensers placed all around the ship. Every time we went to eat, dispensers were at the ready. And we noticed railings on the ship were scrubbed and polished many times each day just to avoid transferring germs.
AT A GLANCE
WHERE: Holland America Line's Veendam currently is cruising out of Tampa, Florida. This particular trip included destinations in the Western Caribbean.
WHAT: Cruising, whether the Caribbean, the Mexican Rivera or anywhere else in the world is getting even more popular with baby-boomers who enjoy the amenities and convenience.
WHEN: Any time of the year, depending on your destination. Cruise lines generally re-position ships to take advantage of increased passenger interest for certain destinations during certain seasons.
WHY: Cruising, in a word, is convenient. Today's ships are so large there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Cruising also is a way for you to sample several destinations in one short trip without having to pack and unpack bags at each stop..
HOW: For more information on Holland America Line cruises, phone 877-SAIL-HAL or visit www.hollandamerica.com.

A raffle has a grand prize of a Alaskan cruise valued at $15000...?
A raffle has a grand prize of a Alaskan cruise valued at $15000 with a second prize of a Rocky Point vacation valued at $1300. If each ticket costs $2 and 8000 tickets are sold, what are the expected winnings far a ticket buyer?
ticket money: 16000
prize money: 16300
difference: 300
difference per ticket: 0.3
so the expected winnings are 30 cents for a ticket buyer
(not very realistic to have expected winnings instead of expected loss

Credit Scores
Whether we like it or not, our lives are greatly impacted by our financial credit scores. If you have a good credit rating, lending institutions are more than happy to loan you the money to buy a house, a boat, a car, help you start a business venture, or whatever. If you have a bad rating, you're basically stuck in Nowheresville.
For our younger readers, your credit score begins the day you get a revolving line of credit, such as a Credit Card or gasoline card, or purchase something on time, such as a house, furniture, or whatever. Your ability to pay off debt is monitored and scored from this point to the day you finally die (and pass your financial troubles to your heirs). In other words, it is an albatross hanging around all of our necks.
Interestingly, most consumers pay little attention to their credit scores which are ultimately maintained by three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. A lot of people seem to prefer operating in the dark. I guess ignorance is bliss. To the rest of us, it's a wise move to periodically look over your credit report and make sure it is an accurate accounting of your credit history. If it is wrong, it could do considerable damage to your reputation from a financial perspective.
Your credit score is primarily a reflection of with your ability to pay your debt. Period. Remarkably, your income is of little concern in this regards. Just because you make a lot of money, it doesn't necessarily mean you will use it to pay off your debt. Instead, they carefully monitor your Credit Cards and loans. In particular, they analyze the amount of credit available to you, your outstanding balance, and if you are paying it off on time. Late payments are flagged accordingly. From this, they calculate a credit score which lending institutions use to pass judgment on you. Having a good credit score, therefore, is a sign you are able to manage your finances responsibly. It should be noted that gender, race, and religion are not considered when determining scores.
Although the credit report is available free to you once a year, the credit score must be purchased separately for a modest fee. Perhaps the best place to begin to study your credit profile is at the web site, Annual Credit Report, a free service to guide you through requesting a Credit Check. See:
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/
We all understand what is necessary to raise credit scores; in a nutshell, don't bite off more than you can chew, and pay it off on time. However, knowing this and having the discipline to implement it are two different things, as evidenced by our current recession which was started, in large part, by people defaulting on home loans (and don't get me started on the idiots who loaned them the money in the first place).
At the time of this writing, the Experian credit bureau reported that America's "National Score Index" was 692 which, by my estimate, is a "Good" credit rating ("B"). This is either an overly generous estimate or perhaps Experian is telling us our economy is not as bad as we thought and is indicative of a healthy rebound. I suspect the latter as their numbers are based on fact, not speculation.
If anything, this recession has taught us the virtue of paying attention to credit ratings, both for the consumer and for lending institutions. Like it or not, it is how we quantify an individual's financial responsibility. Regardless of your credit score though, always remember this: The less money you have, the less likely you will get a loan. Conversely, if you already have a lot of money, you'll get all the cash and credit you want. Sorry, that's just the way it is. I don't make the rules, I just report them.

Can I use my Vanquis credit card in the U.S.?
I have a Vanquis credit card which is chip and pin (I am in the UK). I know a lot of people who have UK chip and pin cards and have used them OK in America, using the swip and signature method, but Vanquis have told me their cards cannot be used in this way. They have said chip and pin only. I find this hard to believe as I am sure someone with a Vanquis card MUST have used it in the U.S. with no problem. I want to use it for a car hire swipe when I go to Florida next month. Anyone used one of these cards over there?
Please dont say yes you can use it unless you are 100% sure or have personal experience....just because it is a Visa or Mastercard it doesnt guarantee it can be used in a swipe system. It is a chip and pin card which apparently can only be used in a chip and pin machine.
And yes, I know the rate of interest. That doesnt bother me. And the post office wont give me a credit card and nor will anyone else so I dont have much choice.
Yes you as it is a visa or mastercard you have but just know the interest for this type of card is going to be high when used aboard, if you could try and get a post office credit card you would pay a lesser interest or no interest at all

A Garage Kit: Six Advantages of Steel Framing over Wood
VersaTube Building Systems have been around since 1994, specializing in steel framing components for a variety of uses from residential to agricultural to commercial. By 1997 they had patented an innovative "slip fit" steel framing system that made assembling steel frames much easier and faster, so they expanded to offering full building systems, including a garage kit that any do-it-yourself homeowner could build in a weekend.
But in building systems, wood has always been the material of choice, so why use steel? Here are six advantages of a steel framed garage kit over wood framed buildings.
- They are easy to install. The steel tubes are precisely engineered to fit together, with one end sliding into the other. No special fasteners are needed, and fewer workers are needed to complete the process. No sawing, holding, and nailing together long, heavy and bulky 2"x4" or 4"x4" planks.
- Cost effective. Since the metal is precisely cut in the factory, there is no on site waste (no need to pay for slightly longer wood to make sure they are long enough which you then cut down to size). Since fewer workers are needed, that is less wages to pay if you are having the building assembled by someone else. And in some areas, steel framing in a garage kit will reduce insurance premiums.
- Safer and resistant to nature. A steel framed garage kit is obviously more fire resistant than a wood framed building, steel is also unaffected by termites, insects or rodents as well as mold or fungi. It does not have to be treated with chemicals like wood does, and a steel framed building is well grounded and less likely to be struck or damaged by lightning.
- Less maintenance and improved construction quality. A steel garage kit does not age and deteriorate like wood buildings do over time, so you know you have a building that will last. The steel used by VersaTube, which is made in the USA , is manufactured to uncompromising standards for strength and consistency, so as a homeowner you don't have to worry about any weak spots. Steel is corrosion resistant, it is dimensionally stable and it also remains straight, no concerns about warping with weather changes.
- Lightweight but strong and durable. Steel has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of any construction material, so is great for a garage kit. Steel will never buckle, split, warp, twist, crack, rot or splinter. All this strength, yet it is also weighs less than wood, making it easier to handle, move around and build with especially when raising walls and roofs.
- Recyclable. Wood is obviously recyclable, but steel is the most recycled material on earth, with more than 100 billion pound recycled annually. There is little waste and no trees are used, which may be a renewable natural resource but only when properly managed.
When it comes to selecting the best building kit for your shed or garage, take a good look at steel garage kits. As shown above, they offer numerous advantages from easy installation to being more cost effective and more resistant to natural occurring problems. They are also very strong, low maintenance and recyclable. Plus, they come in a lot of configurations, colors and options so with a Versatube prefabricated steel garage kit, you win on many fronts.

How much to have a clutch put in a 2007 Ram 2500 cummins?
I have a 2007 ram 2500 with a 6 speed and a 5.9L cummins. The clutch started to slip today and I was wondering what it cost for a clutch kit and about what it should cost to have a kit or maybe just a clutch plate put in it. Thanks
You should replace the entire clutch. Check out South Bend Clutch. They make absolutely remarkable clutches for a good price. Are you leaving your truck with stock power output? Or are you modifying for more power? They have 3 levels of single disk clutches. The Con-O is the entry level, the mid level is the Con-OFE and the best single disk they offer is the Con-FE. I had an FE, and it is a very grabby clutch. You can tell a noticeable difference in engagement with it vs a stock clutch. However, that clutch held to 526 rear wheel horsepower, rated to 550. I don't remember if the ratings are flywheel or rear wheel, but I have heard people running more than 600 rear wheel horsepower with the FE.
As for cost, you should be able to find an FE for about 800-900 dollars. I paid 200 to have mine installed by a friend who normally charges 300 dollars. Pricing for the lower level clutches should be on South Bend's site, but that is probably the MSRP or MAP pricing, which is minimum advertised price. You can likely find a better deal by buying through a vendor if you become a member of a truck/diesel forum. I'll list some below.

Sleep Walking in Children –simple Steps to Keep Your Child Out of Harm!
Sleep walking is also known as noctambulism or somnambulism. This problem is mostly seen in children who are aged between 4 to 8 years. Mostly this problem of sleep walking appears to run in families. There are lots of chances to obtain this problem for your child if anyone of your family members has this problem.
The factors which cause the problem of sleep walking in children are:
• Fatigue or lack of sleep
• Due to fever or some other illness
• It can also be caused with the usage of certain medications which are not suitable for your child.
• Stress or some psychological problems
• Facing problems in getting uninterrupted or good sleep
• some Emotional problems can also lead to this problem
